At first glance, it might look like thick-cut calamari, but this is actually a classic Thai street food favorite: prawn cake served with som tam salad and a Thai dipping sauce. Take one bite, and you’ll notice the contrast right away, crispy on the outside, soft and slightly dense on the inside.
The flavor is nicely balanced, savory without being overpowering, with the taste of fresh shrimp still coming through in a subtle way. What really elevates the dish is the sweet-and-sour Thai sauce, which adds a gentle kick without too much heat.
