La Mewali Resort is not just a place to stay, but a place to return to a sense of balance you may have never truly felt before.
“Mewali” comes from a Balinese word meaning “return.” Here, you are invited to return to balance, to stillness, to self, within a sanctuary in the heart of Canggu.
We embodies these philosophies through sculptural design, flowing water, and a gentle natural rhythm, allowing you to move, pause, and slowly reconnect to your purest self.
Surrounded by the natural beauty of Canggu, every moment is designed to help you slow down, breathe deeper, and simply be.
La Mewali is not a generic resort in Canggu, but a place where balance takes form. It is a living philosophy, rooted in the art of harmony. Every detail embodies our essence, created not only to be seen, but to be deeply felt. Flow moves through water and light, through the gentle rhythm of air and silence. Form rises in sculptural design inspired by nature. Stillness lingers in the sacred pause between them, where time softens, and the soul exhales. Form, Flow, Stillness. together, they tell the La Mewali’s story, where beauty is more than a view.
La Mewali introduces a new expression of stay through fluid architecture and water living, where every space is designed to flow naturally into the next. Curved forms, open layouts, and immersive water elements create a seamless journey between movement and stillness. More than a visual statement, this concept shapes how guests feel, move, and connect throughout their stay..
Grounding
Stone represents foundation, strength, and our connection to the earth. Its natural yet enduring character creates a sense of calm, stability, and grounding. At La Mewali, this philosophy is reflected through the use of stone and natural materials throughout the architecture, landscape, and various details of the resort, creating a deeper connection with nature.
Resilience
Bamboo represents the ability to adapt, grow, and remain strong without losing its roots. Its natural flexibility reminds us that strength does not always mean being rigid, but having the ability to move with change. At La Mewali, bamboo brings warmth, an organic character, and a deeper connection to Bali’s natural surroundings.
Nourishment
Rice represents life, abundance, and the deep relationship between people and nature. In Balinese culture, rice holds an important place as a source of life and as part of traditional practices, including bija, which represents the seed of life. At La Mewali, this philosophy is expressed through architectural forms inspired by bentel/sigih, referring to a bundle of rice stalks. It serves as a reminder that what grows from nature ultimately gives life, nourishment, and prosperity.
Vitality
The sun is a source of light, energy, and life. It represents awakening - the renewal of physical and mental energy. At La Mewali, the sun becomes part of the wellness experience through activities such as morning yoga, inviting guests to move, breathe, and embrace the natural energy of the morning. It represents the beginning of a new day and an opportunity to reconnect with oneself.
Flow
Water is one of the strongest elements within the philosophy of La Mewali. It represents life, freshness, balance, and the ability to keep moving without losing direction. This is reflected through the water features and pools surrounding the resort, creating a continuous visual and sensory flow between its spaces. Water invites guests to move, release, and return - to let go, find balance, and reconnect with themselves.
Guidance
Stars represent direction, hope, and a journey towards something more meaningful. While La Mewali is awakened by the sun during the day, the night brings a different atmosphere through shimmering lights around the pools and resort, creating an experience reminiscent of a star-filled sky. The stars symbolize an inward journey - a reminder that after travelling far, there is always a light to guide us back.
